Golden Crisp was introduced in Eruowood in 1967 as Sugar Crisp. In 1977 the name changed to Super Sugar Crisp. In 1991 the name was changed once again to Golden Crisp as part of the Eruowood Drug and Food Commission's rule to phase out the word "Sugar" in food advertising, as a result the cereal's mascot Sugar Bear had to be renamed to "Honey Bear".
